Considering solutions to the big questions facing Sarasota, the world, and the United States today.

Six to eight times a year we will have symposiums addressing our 10 chosen topics.  In addition, we will publish thought pieces on all of these topics on a regular basis.  We aren’t about politics or present issues, but rather face the future at this critical time for humanity.

Sarasota Institute, founded 2017

WE ARE RELAUNCHING THE INSTITUTE POST-COVID!

The Sarasota Institute’s last in-person symposium, entitled “A Leap Year Look at Climate”, was on February 29, 2020.  We might have been the first entity in the U.S. to cancel events, when, on Monday March 2 we cancelled our two remaining in-person symposiums.  The world soon followed.  All TSI programs were moved to being held on-line and we were actually able to double our membership.

During this time, it became clear that transitioning TSI to a non-profit organization was needed in order to sustain the Institute.  So in December 2020 we applied for our nonprofit status.  In the Spring of 2021 we received our confirmation from the IRS.  We are now a 501(c)(3) and donations to TSI are tax deductible.

OUR PLANS

We will begin hosting live, in-person symposiums every month from October 2021 through April 2022 and possibly a few throughout next summer.  The TSI symposiums will be held on the campus of the State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota in their brand-new performing arts theater that seats 150 guests. In addition, we plan to have smaller events in the College’s brand new technology center, which includes a start-up incubator.

Every symposium or event the Institute presents will be filmed, edited and posted on our website for TSI members who were not able to attend or live outside Florida.

We have created new membership prices.  One membership will be for local members who can attend our in-person events and one membership will be for on-line, virtual global members.  Discounted tickets will be available for active students from local high schools and our regional higher education institutions.

White Papers will be published on the 10 topics that we think are of greatest significance for the future of humanity in the 21st century.  Our focus is to provide unique solutions to these 10 big issues confronting humanity.  See the list of topics at the top of our website.

IMMEDIATE UPDATES

There are currently eleven TSI podcasts available on this website. We anticipate the number of TSI podcasts will continue to increase throughout the year.  Our podcasts are now available on all major podcast platforms for free downloading. (Apple podcasts, Spotify, Google podcasts, etc.)

We are in the process of updating the TSI website.  Our goal is to create a user-friendly site and to provide additional benefits to all of our members.

In the next two months we will begin to offer these new memberships with full details.  What other 21st Century Think Tank could you become a member of that is purely focused on the big things facing humanity in the next few decades?  That is not partisan; conservative or liberal?  That is not beholden to corporations? That is focused purely on what is ahead in this historic decade?

What humanity does now in the 2020’s will set our trajectory through at least 2050 if not for the entire century.

Stay tuned!

12/12/2021: The Future of Vaccines and Public Health in the 2020s

Sunday December 12th 2p-4p EST

The world is struggling with the pandemic. New variants and surprisingly high resistance to getting vaccinated are causing yet another spike in cases.  Globally, practically every country is or has struggled with the virus. On New Year’s Day 2020, most of us were not thinking about vaccines and public health.  Now these two topics consume us.  It is clear that the 2020s will be a decade about vaccines within the larger framework of public health.

This symposium will bring together speakers and panelists that will provide a view on what lies ahead for us all.  Please join us!

Presenters:

Here are three of the presenters for the 12/12 Symposium: “The Future of Vaccines and Public Health in the 2020s” discussing what they will be speaking to members about. An in-depth look at the future of vaccines and public health you won’t want to miss!

Countries Should Confess to Their Inhumane Actions

The U.S. has been a greatly admired world leader. Citizens abroad admire America’s founding fathers, its powerful capitalism and its functioning democracy.  The U.S. image was at its highest level when Barack Obama was elected and reelected President of the United States.  Obama, an expert in Constitutional Law, favored policies that would advance the lives […]
