WE ARE RELAUNCHING THE INSTITUTE POST-COVID!
The Sarasota Institute’s last in-person symposium, entitled “A Leap Year Look at Climate”, was on February 29, 2020. We might have been the first entity in the U.S. to cancel events, when, on Monday March 2 we cancelled our two remaining in-person symposiums. The world soon followed. All TSI programs were moved to being held on-line and we were actually able to double our membership.
During this time, it became clear that transitioning TSI to a non-profit organization was needed in order to sustain the Institute. So in December 2020 we applied for our nonprofit status. In the Spring of 2021 we received our confirmation from the IRS. We are now a 501(c)(3) and donations to TSI are tax deductible.
OUR PLANS
We will begin hosting live, in-person symposiums every month from October 2021 through April 2022 and possibly a few throughout next summer. The TSI symposiums will be held on the campus of the State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota in their brand-new performing arts theater that seats 150 guests. In addition, we plan to have smaller events in the College’s brand new technology center, which includes a start-up incubator.
Every symposium or event the Institute presents will be filmed, edited and posted on our website for TSI members who were not able to attend or live outside Florida.
We have created new membership prices. One membership will be for local members who can attend our in-person events and one membership will be for on-line, virtual global members. Discounted tickets will be available for active students from local high schools and our regional higher education institutions.
White Papers will be published on the 10 topics that we think are of greatest significance for the future of humanity in the 21st century. Our focus is to provide unique solutions to these 10 big issues confronting humanity. See the list of topics at the top of our website.
