William Johnston

Retired NYSE Executive

 

Johnston spent his entire life at the New York Stock Exchange. The last job he had there was as President and COO of the NYSE from 1996-2003. He was a member from 1962-1996 first at Johnston & Lunger 1962-1970, the as Sr. VP and Board member of Mitchum Jones & Templeton, 1970-1980, then Founder CEO and Chairman of the Board of Agora Securities 1980-1990 then SR Managing Director of LaBranche & Co 1990-1996.

 

The offices he held at the NYSE were floor official 1975-1985, Governor 1985-1991, Director 1992-2001, Vice Chairman 1995-96, NYSE Foundation 1992-96 and Chairman 1995-96

 

Johnston has devoted much of his time to serving on boards. These include:
DeSoto National Memorial Park, Cancer Research & Treatment, Hollins University, Washington & Lee University, Plymouth Harbor, Omicron Delta Kappa, St. Bernard’s Episcopal Church, U. of Richmond Jepson School of Leadership, Emory University Goizueta School of Business, Pace University School of Business.

 

His more recent board participation include. New College member Chairman and Vice-Chairman, Plymouth Harbor Foundation, member and Chairman and the Visible Men Academy member and chairman
